The Starbucks Date

Poetry

Coffee date at Starbucks,
Doesn’t it seem like a must do?
Something so very simple,
At the same time so elite.
Especially for broke college students,
It’s saved up for important dates.

Date at Starbucks was a dream,
That we kept on postponing.
And suddenly, one normal day,
At a park, munching on samosas,
I look at my man and said,
“Starbucks is such a facade.”

“I make the best coffee,
And ambiance, we love it green.
Then, why is Starbucks on our list?
It’s nothing but overpriced.”
He just flopped his arms around me,
As we both stared at the sky with a smile.

Few months after that day,
We did end up in Starbucks.
He ordered Caffe’ Mocha,
And me Caffe’ Americano,
One sip and we knew,
What I said was true.

  1. Beautiful articulation of feelings, its not a place that makes a bond blossom. Instead the emotions that are shared between 2 souls that unites 2 heartbeats into 1. Truly delightful to say the least 👏👌

    1. Thank you so much, Sidharth! So glad you liked it! 🙈🙈🤗🤗😘😘💞💞❣️❣️💖💖 Love obviously is more than just fancy dates. ❤️❤️❤️

      1. My heart, you break break break
My faith in nice, you shake shake shake
You don’t know how to, bake bake bake
The way you cook is wreck wreck wreck
        😝😝😝

      1. Soon… For now, you can use that… 😍😍😍 Pakka, I’ll make it better. 😝😝😝😍😍😍😘😘😘😘

  2. Beautiful flow of emotions & agreeing on the “taste”….it’s also so true that Starbucks is overrated….I’ve never liked their coffee actually.

  3. As a former barista and shift manager there, I can agree with you my friend. It is overpriced and definitely a status play. Tonight I made my Mom, Dad and I a very similar tea to a handcrafted concoction they sell and you know what, it was even better 😊

    1. Yeah, I have heard they add extra sugar and extra coffee for it to be addictive! But it’s seeped into culture, and once a thing is a cultural thing, it’s hard to shift perspective imo.

  4. Nice poem!
Ia have never been to Starbucks as I feel it won’t match the hype, (had been to CCD few years back, was disappointed af)
    Great post!

    1. Haha. None of the coffee parlours or cafes match the hype. It’s all about the ‘gram and proving to world how much of a spendthrift one is. 🤗🤗😘😘
Thank you so much, Uzzawal. ❤️

    1. So glad you enjoyed reading this. 🤗🤗😘😘😘❤️
I did see the result, I’m still figuring out how do I react to it. Like how much of the excitement is acceptable? 🙈🙈🙈Cause my half open eyes in middle of my half complete sleep is wide open now. But my brain is too dead to form words. Thank you seems so bland. I wish there was jumping with joy and being on cloud nice emojis. 😂😂😂🤗🤗😘😘😘❤️💖❤️❤️💖❤️❤️❤️❤️😍❤️❤️💞💞💞❣️💞😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘💞💞💞💞💖💖💖❤️❤️❤️❤️❣️❣️💞

      1. Oh! I wish I could stay in my own world! It’s way better, you know! I walk around carrying knives and guns with me, though I don’t kill anybody except for bad guys. I travel around and explore…
It’s nice! You should probably visit my world someday.

  5. Starbucks is as much a status symbol as Nike sneakers or a Rolex watch. All overpriced for the common function they perform. But I would go to Starbucks if it meant a date with you! ❤🌹🦄

    1. Haha, Brad!! 🙈🙈 A beautiful hilltop, with some papers and pens and hot mug of coffee would be better!🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘😘🦄🦄🥰🥰🥰

  6. So nice , Shreya!😍💜💜
I too wonder that why some couples fancy about having a date in such high profile places, where there is so much of pomp and show and are keen to spend their money.😜😂😂 Nothing could be compared with a handmade coffee under the roof of sky !!😂😍😍
    Loved reading it😘🤗

    1. Thank you so much, Chetna. 🤗🤗😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️ So glad you feel the same!! 😍😍😍 Handmade coffee has more love in it. 😁😁😁♥️♥️😘😘😘

  7. Aaahhhaaaaa🤩🤩🤩
    This is amazing Shreya…!!

You know what..I make good coffee too…I think I should open a coffee shop… people will forget Starbucks 😂😂😂😂😂( you know what I am saying right😜)
