A Fulfilling Choice

A dilemma I faced in the days of yore,
Between a path laid out for me,
And chasing my heart,
I took a step with my trembling feet,
As I crushed, what set me apart.

Long I walked, with my head held high,
As my soul withered like the autumn leaves,
Soon there was nothing left,
I survived on pills,
Marching towards my ruination.

That’s when I heard a frail call,
More like a little girl’s rebellion,
And I took a bold step, did a 180,
Claimed back the reins of my life,
Solo, I rode away.

There were dreams shattered,
Faith dwindled,
But I ran, and ran, and ran,
Let my heart lead the way,
Until I was finally free.

Sometimes I still wonder,
How different life would have been,
Would it be easier?
But I made a choice,
My soul is satisfied.

Life is all about the choices. Most of the times it’s others who chose for us. And when we do finally stand for ourselves a guilty feeling crept like we are doing something wrong even if that give us the happiness.
Through this post you have bring that out very well Shreya. A fulfilling read πŸ’›

Thank you so much!! Super duper glad you like it. You see, we’ve been brought up that way. We’re taught to care about others and take their opinion into consideration. So, when we do something simple or essential for ourselves, we are the first person to consider that selfish.

And I missed you too Rashmi!! I really really really am pushing myself to write atleast one poem every single day. It’s just so difficult to manage these days. But it’s super nice to write again.
So glad you like it. Thank you so much for all your love and support. ❀️❀️❀️
