A Suicide Bomber

A man walks into a crowded spot,
He knows he’s about to explode.
With a bomb strapped to his chest,
He believes he’s doing the best.

He’s ready to sacrifice his life,
For a cause that seems so vile,

But he believes he’s doing the right,
He knows that it is his fight.

His action isn’t justifiable,
It’s unforgivable!
Yet many follow his path,
They embrace the bloodbath.

In them, we see monsters,
Vicious, horrific creatures.
Do you know, who created them?
Well, we are the ones to blame.

No child is born with hatred.
Everyone wants to be loved,
Everyone wants to belong,
And that child was betrayed.

Yes, there may be monsters,
But mostly, there are just humans.
And in those vile organizations,
They find love and compassion.

So, come let’s embrace each other,
Don’t let them recruit another.
Let’s spread a love that’s so strong,
Something to cure all that’s wrong.

Well said, this is so true and is articulated beautifully. No one is born a terrorist or “evil”. We are mostly a reflection of our society and most of all want to fit in.

A challenging and perceptive view of where our hatreds are born. It is sometimes hard to find sympathy or compassion for those who resort to violence, but they are only people in need as much as any other. Way to shine a bright light on our society and make people think differently. Well written, Shreya!

True! Many factors are attached. But the world would be so much better if we all just loved eachother.

A feeling of helplessness when seeing how an innocent life is destroyed in the middle of that madness that are the suicides. Minds easily shaped by experts to carry out their evil in the name of religion. A poem that reveals the seams of a disturbed mind. Very sad but real your poetry.

Still in quarantine. So I am taking care of myself by following the health rules. Of course you’re fine, that’s good news. You write better every time and that makes me very happy. A big hug and take care please.

Shreya this is so lovely…You know I don’t need to say much…But I think love is just not enough sometimes…It’s the difference of classes living together that allow people to do these things(Societies run with money you know)…Teaching good lessons and explaining them can help maybe…Being compassionate too…
