Takes me back to when I was seven.
Daddy giving me a goodnight kiss,
Counting back, was a task he’d give.
Such a strenuous task, for my little brain,
I’d drowse off in just a few seconds.
96, 95, 94, 93,
Can I go back to when I was three?
While memories are blurry, all so hazy,
But I know for sure, I was happy
Oblivious to everything in the world,
I was a gleeful little tot.
92, 91, 90, 89,
Why can I never sleep at night?
All the scenarios that’ll never happen,
I keep replaying it on my mind.
I really should get some sleep,
Before I fall very sick.
88, 87, 86, 85,
It’s way past my bedtime.
My eyes are heavy,
And my body is aching;
The lack of sleep is acting up,
Yet, my mind isn’t shutting up.
84, 83, 82, 81
I go on till I reach 1.
Then, I repeat it once again,
But daddy’s trick is now a fail.
Momma, will you please cradle me?
Like you did, when I was a baby.
