Long Distance Sucks

Poetry, Writer life

Waking up has become a chore.
Damn! I even miss your snore.
The stale smell of your morning breath,
I’d kiss you even with it.
As the first alarm of the day rings,
Stretching, my arms search for you,
Only to realize an empty bed,
Followed by an icy chill in my chest.
And when I open my eyes,
I don’t see your face.
Hurriedly I hit you with a ‘Hey’
Only to miss you even more.

I miss your calming citrus smell,
And warmth of your embrace even more.
I miss our morning kisses,
And the blissful silence that followed.
Stupid rash decision we made.
This distance is killing me!
Each text we exchange rips me apart,
Makes me realize, you’re not next to me.

  1. This is so beautifully expressive and the emotions you create so strong and truly felt. It reads with a smooth flow, each stanza digging a little deeper into the absence you feel. Your writing is progressing and the sharing of your heart is priceless. Keep writing, for we all fear being distant from your words! ❤😘🤗❤🍌

    1. Thank you so much Brad! I’m so glad you like it. Your appreciation is such a huge motivation for me! Much love. 💞💞❣️❣️❤️❤️💕

  2. Beautiful poem, although long distance works for me….. I´m just weird, I prefer to have a “wiki wiki” in 20 minutes and out we go each to his and her own place.

    Greatly written and great message.

      1. Most of my works are fictional… Don’t feel sad for me … It’s all part of my imagination. 🙈😘😘🤗💕💕❣️

    1. Now I know, why didn’t WordPress let me use ‘Shreya’ as my username… 😂😂😂 I’m Shreya too, and I too rant with purpose. So, I’ll definitely follow you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

      1. Aww thanks ! I did not know WordPress allows only unique usernames. Shreya is such a common name, how come it allowed only me ?
I’d already given you a follow, a few days back <3

      2. I don’t know… You are the lucky one, or maybe WildHeart suited me more… Cheers to sharing names, and reading blogs ! 🥂🥂🥂🥂😍😍😍😍
